Frome Town Council is launching My Frome, a new digital participation platform designed to open up local decision-making and give more people a clear, practical way to influence what happens in Frome. In a first for town councils, Frome residents are being asked to sign up to My Frome to enable them to see what’s being planned, explore the options, share ideas and preferences and help guide decision making
As well as seeing what is being planned My Frome will allow residents to follow projects as they progress, understand how their input is being used and join discussions with other residents and councillors to genuinely inform decisions that are made. My Frome also brings everything into one place and clearly explains how public input will inform the final outcome – maybe through shaping designs, influencing priorities or helping councillors weigh up different options.
Cllr Fiona Barrows, Leader of Frome Town Council, said: “We’re really excited to start using My Frome – not only does it make it easier for you to tell us what you think, it’s easier for you to see what other people are saying too, and engage in real-time discussions about what matters to you – and you can do it at a time that suits you. Unlike sending an email or a letter (you still can – and we really do read them all) you can see how your thoughts are part of a bigger picture. Discover what others are saying and be part of a genuine conversation. It’s about making local decision-making more open, transparent and collaborative.”
As My Frome launches residents can:
- Have your say on plans for Frome’s new skatepark
- Help decide play choices for the community woodland
- Input into a long-term vision for the Market Yard and Riverside area
- Help decide the future of public toilets in Frome
- Answer the question “What does culture in Frome mean to you?” as part of a potential Town of Culture bid
Lead Cllr for Communities, Cllr Carla Collenette, said:
“Strong local democracy depends on people being informed, involved and able to see how their voices matter. My Frome will open up how decisions are shaped, not just asking for views, but showing clearly how those views feed into what happens next. You can take part in a way that works for you, whether that’s a quick comment or deeper involvement. By investing in better participation tools, we as councillors are taking practical steps to strengthen trust and accountability at a local level.”
My Frome is designed to be clear, welcoming and easy to use. It will sit alongside in-person events and workshops, giving more ways for people to take part. Frome Town Council is encouraging everyone to explore the platform and join the conversation.
