Frome Town Council is inviting residents, businesses, community groups to help shape a new plan that will influence future transport and connectivity priorities across the area.
The Frome Area Movement and Place Plan, being developed in partnership with Somerset Council and neighbouring parishes, will explore how people travel around Frome and the wider area, and how access to jobs, education, healthcare, shops, services and leisure opportunities can be improved. The plan will consider a range of topics including walking, cycling, public transport, road safety, accessibility, parking and links between nearby villages and towns.
Frome Town Council is keen to hear from a wide range of people, whether you regularly walk into town, commute by car, catch the bus, cycle to work or rely on mobility aids to get around. Local businesses and employers are also encouraged to take part, helping to highlight any challenges such as staff travel, customer access, deliveries and connections across the local area.
Mayor of Frome, Cllr Mark Dorrington, said: “We all experience moving around Frome differently. For some people it’s a daily school run, for others it’s getting to work, accessing healthcare, visiting family or simply enjoying the places around us. We’re looking beyond transport alone and asking how people connect with the places that matter in their everyday lives. It might be a busy junction that needs attention, a missing link in a walking route, challenges with public transport, concerns about accessibility or simply an idea for making it easier to get around. By hearing from as many people as possible we can build a better understanding of what’s working well, what’s missing and what opportunities there may be for the future.”
Anyone who would like to contribute can also complete the survey on My Frome, Frome Town Council’s online engagement platform.
The project team will continue to talk to residents, businesses and community groups over the next few months and gather views through a variety of engagement activities, at various places and events including finding the team at the Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show on Saturday 12th September, where there will be an opportunity to learn more about the project and share ideas in person.
