Frome town councillors will once again be on hand at the Saturday market on 6 December from 10am to 12pm to chat to residents, alongside a fun, free craft activity between 9am and 2pm, making willow bird feeders for garden birds through the winter. The ‘meet the councillor’ session follows a successful session on 1 November, alongside an autumnal apple-pressing activity led by Sustainable Frome.
Councillors will be available at the first Saturday market every month to answer questions, hear feedback and meet anyone who would like to chat. Cllr Fiona Barrows said:
“We became town councillors because we love Frome and we want to offer our time and the skills we’ve gathered from a wide range of backgrounds to make a positive difference here. We ’re always open to hearing from residents via email, phone, at the town hall or at council events, but we wanted to add a further, regular opportunity for people to find us and talk to us. As FTC has now taken on the weekly markets through devolution, we thought that a regular slot at the Saturday market, on the first Saturday of the month, was a good opportunity for it. Come along with your thoughts, your ideas, or just to find out more about your town council and your councillors.”
Ranger Asia said: “Come along any time between 9am and 2pm (or until we run out of willow) to make a willow bird feeder to keeps birds chirpy till Spring! They’re pretty and deceptively simple, made of natural materials and a lovely thing to do for garden birds in the colder months.”
Meet the councillors between 10am and 12pm at the Saturday market, outside Frome Library. The willow bird feeder activity starts at 9am and runs until 2pm, or until the prepared willow, needed to make the feeders, runs out.
