Wellbeing Frome celebrates Mayor’s Grant

Wellbeing Frome Grant cheque presentation 1A new community group set up to support people in Frome to access complimentary therapies, no matter what their income, has been given a welcome funding boost.

Wellbeing Frome received a £300 Mayor’s Grant and was also the lucky winner of the community groups survey prize draw. The group offers natural treatments from local therapists at no cost, or an optional donation with no questions asked.

Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said, “Wellbeing Frome is an example of what makes Frome such a positive and community minded town, and supporting small projects like this to continue their great work is exactly what the Mayor’s Grant pot is all about. So, if you have a community project in need of a bit of help I’d love to see you apply.”

Jo Hanstead one of the organisers of Wellbeing Frome said, “There are many local residents who are not currently benefitting from the rich array of Natural Therapies on offer in Frome. The reason may be financial, or that people are not yet aware of how natural treatments may help them, be it for aches and pains or long-term conditions. We were very grateful to receive this funding from Frome Town Council.”

Natural therapies seek to address the root cause of a problem, or if that is not possible, improve general wellbeing. For example, having a massage or learning a new skill like mindfulness or yoga, can make a real difference to health and the enjoyment of life.

Their next event will be upstairs at the Cheese and Grain, Saturday 7th September. Doors open 1.30pm. Practitioners will be offering short sessions as well as workshops, talks and information. All are welcome – come early to book your session. You can find ‘wellbeingfrome’ on Facebook for information about their monthly events.

If you are a community group making a real difference to people’s lives in Frome then there may be financial support available for you, either through Community Grants or Mayor’s Grants.

The Community Grants programme is available for applications between £300 to £2,000 and is currently open for applications until 23 September. Mayor’s Grants are ongoing so are a great opportunity for smaller projects looking for up to £300 to apply at any time. Find out more and apply here.
