Temporary road & footpath closures for March 2021

The following road and footpath closures are due to take place during March 2021.

Pilly vale Railway Bridge – Footpath 20/19

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary closure of footpath notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along footpath FR 20/19 from the eastern end of Willow Vale and running in a generally easterly direction for 165 metres under the railway bridge and on to its junction with footpath FR 20/20 as shown on the map.

This closure is due to the likelihood of danger to the public while Pilly Vale railway bridge repair works are taking place.

The order became effective on the 1st February and remains in force for six months although the works are only likely to take 7 weeks.

Elm Lane

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Elm Lane for a total distance of approximately 88 metres as shown on the map.

This order will enable Bristol Water to locate a buried stop tap on or near the road.

The works are anticipated to be operative from 1st March 2021 to 2nd March 2021 for 2 days between the hours of 00:00 – 23:59.

The restrictions may not be effected for the whole of the period but it is anticipated that the road will be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessary to execute the
works for a period not exceeding five days.

Coal Lane, Hapsford Hill, Elm Lane to Hapsford Hill

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Coal Lane, Hapsford Hill, Elm Lane To Hapsford Hill for a distance of 2051 metres as shown on the map.

This order will enable Diban on behalf of Voneus to install duct in the carriageway and associated works. These works are going to be carried out in phases: Coal Lane – Phase 1, Hapsford Hill – Phase 2 and Elm Lane To Hapsford Hill – Phase 3.

The order becomes effective on the 25th February 2021 with works expected to start on the 3rd March 2021 until 17th March 2021 between the hours of 00.00-23.59 for a total of 15 days.

Eagle Lane

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Eagle Lane for a total distance of approximately 61 metres as shown on the map.

This order will enable A H Willis & Sons Ltd to carry out HV jointing for asset replacement works on behalf of Scottish & Southern Power Distribution.

The order becomes effective on the 11th March 2021 with works expected to start on the 16th March 2021 until 26th March 2021 between the hours of 00.00-23.59 for a total of 11 days.

Coal Lane, Selwood

Somerset County Council have issued an urgent road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Coal Lane for a total distance of approximately 130 metres as shown on the map.

This notice is required for MTL Group Ltd to carry out the urgent removal of ash trees on or near the road. The restrictions may not be effected for the whole of the period but it is anticipated that the road will be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessary to execute the works for a period not exceeding five days

The works are expected to start on the 22nd March 2021 until 25th March 2021 between the hours of 09.00-15.30 for a total of 4 days.

Feltham Hill

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Feltham Hill for a total distance of approximately 40 metres as shown on the map.

This order will enable Centurion Site Services to carry out a safety examination of the railway bridge structure.

The order becomes effective on the 18th March 2021 with works expected to start on the 25th March 2021 until 26th March 2021 between the hours of 22.00-06.00 for a total of 8 hours.

Main Frome Road to Foghamshire Lane

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Main Frome Road to Foghamshire Lane for a distance of 558 metres as shown on the maps.

This order will enable BT Openreach to carry out new connection works.

The order becomes effective on the 25th March 2021 with works expected to start on the 31st March 2021 until 1st April 2021 between the hours of 09.30-15.30 for a total of 2 days.
