Temporary road closures September 2022

The following road and footpath closures are due to take place in and around Frome during September 2022.

Town Centre

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting traffic from travelling within the town centre – North Parade, Market Place, Scott Road, King Street, Stony Street, Catherine Hill, Palmer Street and Bath Street between 06.00-18.00 on Sunday 4th September 2022.

This order will enable The Frome Independent Market to take place.

Catherine Street

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Catherine Street from the junction with Hoopers Barton, south westwards for a total distance of 82 metres as shown on the map:

This order will enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out works to lay new gas service.

The order becomes effective on the 1st September 2022 with works expected to start on the 6th September 2022 until 9th September 2022 between the hours of 00.00 – 23.59 for a total of 4 days.

Murder Combe, Whatley

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Murder Combe, Frome Road from the junction with Old Wells Road, westwards for a distance of 1979 metres.

This order will enable Somerset Highways to carry out removal of dead and dangerous Ash trees with ash dieback.

The order becomes effective on the 5th September 2022 with works expected to start on the 5th September 2022 until 16th September 2022 between the hours of 09.00 – 15.30 for a total of 12 days.

A36 – Bath Road roundabout, Warminster (A350) to Beckington

Wiltshire Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along the A36 in both directions from Bath Road roundabout, Warminster (A350) to Beckington carriageway. The diversion route is via A350 to Yarnbrook, then west to Southwick and A361.

This order will enable drainage maintenance to be carried out.

The works are expected to start on the 8th September 2022 and last until 10th September 2022 between the hours of 21.00 – 05.00 for a total of 2 nights.

Homefield Close and Rylands, Beckington

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Homefield Close, the junction with Sandy Lane to Rylands, 155 metres from the junction with Homefield Close, for a total distance of 185 metres.

The works expected to start and finish on the 9th September 2022 between the hours of 07.30 – 18.00 for a total of 1 day.

Nunney Road

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Nunney Road.

This order will enable a street party to take place.

The road will be closed on 11th September 2022 between the hours of 14.00 – 23.59.

Blatchbridge Roundabout to Vinney Lane, Vinney Lane To The Mount and The Mount.

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Blatchbridge Roundabout to Vinney Lane from the junction with Blatchbridge roundabout northwards into Vinney Lane to The Mount, northwards into The Mount, for a total distance of 1433 metres.

This order will enable Openreach a safe working area to allow progression of cabling works within underground infrastruture.

The order becomes effective on the 8th September 2022 with works expected to start on the 12th September 2022 until 16th September 2022 between the hours of 09.30 – 15.30 for a total of 5 days.

A36 – Beckington (A361) to Farleigh (A366)

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along the A36 in both directions from Beckington (A361) to Farleigh (A366). Northbound diversion via A361, A350 and A4. Southbound diversion via A366 and A361.

This order will enable resurfacing works to be carried out.

The works are expected to start on the 19th September 2022 and last until 15th October 2022 on week days between the hours of 20.00 – 06.00 for a total of 20 nights.

Whittox Lane

Somerset County Council have issued an emergency road closure prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Whittox Lane.

The works started on the 19th September 2022 and are expected to last until 23rd September 2022 between the hours of 07:30 – 20:00 hours.

This order will enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer repair works.

Jack’s Lane (A362)

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Jack’s Lane.

The works expected to start on the 21st September 2022 until 21st September 2022 between the hours of 07.30 – 18.00 for a total of 1 day.

Weymouth Road

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Weymouth Road.

This order will enable the Frome Carnival to take place.

The road will be closed on 24th September 2022 between the hours of 13.00 – 00.59 25th September.

Buckland Lane & Elm Lane

Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling from Buckland Lane, the junction with Elm Lane to Hapsford Hill to Elm Lane, the junction with Sands Cross Lane and Lower Street, for a total distance of 1,640 metres.

This order will enable Somerset Highways to carry out phased preparation works and resurfacing works.

Works are expected to start on the 26th September 2022 until 14th October 2022 excluding the weekends between the hours of 07.30 – 18.00 for a total of 15 days.

Ongoing closures

Cherry Grove and footpaths

Somerset County Council have made an order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Cherry Grove for a distance of 34 metres and all pedestrian traffic from proceeding along Footpaths FR20/50 and FR20/54 as shown on the map:

This order is to enable E. G. Carter & Co Ltd to carry out re-development of a social housing site.

The works commenced on the 11th May 2021 and are expected to last until 19th October 2022 between the hours of 00.00 – 23.59.
