Severe Weather Emergency Provision

Mendip District Council provide emergency accommodation for people sleeping rough during periods of severe weather, this is their Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP).

SWEP is opened when the temperature is forecast to be zero degrees or below for at least three consecutive nights, therefore with the temperature plummeting, Mendip have activated SWEP from Thursday 20th January to Monday 24th January 2022.

Safe and warm accommodation is available, to access this service, call ELIM Connect Centre on 01749 677097 as early as possible. Spaces are limited, so phone early. This provision is for people sleeping rough in Mendip only.

Winter Warmth Packs

Frome Town Council and Frome Renewable Energy Co-operative have joined together through the Healthy Homes project to provide winter warmth packs for anyone in Frome struggling to stay warm.

The pack contains a black scarf, hat, gloves, thermal blanket & socks, a thermos mug plus hot chocolate and information on how to access advice and support.

If you know someone who could benefit from a pack or if you would like one yourself, please visit the reception at Frome Town Hall (Monday-Friday 9am – 4:30pm). 

If you or someone you know would like a pack but is isolating, please contact Nikki Brain or call 01373 481957 and we will arrange to have one delivered to you.
