The Key Centre

Frome Town Council took on the Key Centre as part of devolution from Somerset Council in 2025. There’s lots going on already and even more planned – find out more about regular and one-off events, how to book the space and more below.

Winter cafe at the Key Centre – December 2025 and January 2026

Pop-up Winter cafe at the Key Centre

Local arts organisation Terrestrial, known for creating playful projects with community groups around Frome, are running a pop-up café as a ‘warm space’ for anyone to come and spend time, meet people and perhaps try something new.

The Café will be open Mondays to Fridays throughout December and January, 10.30am – 4.30pm (closing 2.30pm on Fridays). There will be a hot homemade lunch every day and after school snacks. And you can pop in any time for a hot drink.

There are cosy corners for reading, tables for people wanting to work, a toy area for toddlers, as well as board games and quizzes for anyone looking to join in something sociable.

Once school ends at 3.15 each day, the space will have games and arts activities for children (with their grown-ups) and teenagers – including pool and table football, cardboard construction challenges and film screenings.

Fancy trying something creative? The Café hosts will set up different arts activities every day – so you can try your hand at anything from still life painting to origami or lantern making.

The Pop-Up Winter Café is funded by Somerset Community Foundation’s Help Through Winter Fund. Terrestrial’s work around Frome is funded by Somerset Association of Local Councils and Arts Council England.

Our Key Centre Coordinator

Our Key Centre Coordinator Sarah Walton is based at the Key Centre and can help with any general enquiries. You can also ask Sarah about booking spaces at the Key Centre. The centre has a range of spaces for meetings, groups and celebrations, plus a thriving community garden and cabin with an accessible toilet, kitchen and meeting/activity space. Email keycentre@frometowncouncil.gov.uk to find out more.

Hire the play trolley

You can now hire a trolley jam-packed with scrap to fire imagination and creative play, free of charge, while repurposing materials that might otherwise be in landfill! Find out more by emailing us at keycentre@frometowncouncil.gov.uk
