Light the Night with lanterns

We can’t quite believe it’s December next week! It certainly has been a different year this year and while we may not be able to bring you our normal Light the Night lantern parade, culminating in our Christmas tree light switch on, we are spreading some festive cheer and hope that many of you will have created your own lanterns. Your designs then just need to be placed in your front windows from Friday 27th to give the town an extra special lockdown light up.

Well over 600 lantern kits have been sold already and lots of you have attended the online workshops led by the Light the Night team and we’re looking forward to seeing all your masterpieces. If you’ve not managed to build a lantern yet, don’t worry there’s still time.  There are plenty of kits available, these can be bought from the Town Hall. So, whether you want a star or a pyramid – or even something slightly more ambitious, there is a kit for all levels, and you can buy them from the Light the Night website.

The team have also created a very handy guide that you can download, there’s one for a star and a pyramid and it contains all the instructions to make them from home. You can view the instructions on their kit page.

And why stop at just a lantern, why not gather some fairy lights and other decorations and pop them in your front window too and let’s make Frome really shine from Friday 27th and right up until Christmas!
