Frome’s Climate Adaptation Plan – share your thoughts

Frome Town Council and Somerset Wildlife Trust recently joined forces for ‘Act to Adapt’, a project supporting communities to respond proactively to the challenges of climate change, funded by Somerset Rivers Authority. The launch event moved to a larger venue in light of significant interest and more than 120 people gathered at the Cheese and Grain in May to begin work on a Climate Adaptation Plan for Frome. The draft plan is now ready and the team would like to hear from as many people as possible as the work continues.

Natalie Barnett of Somerset Wildlife Trust said:

“The climate emergency poses many threats to Frome. Winters are becoming warmer and wetter, increasing flooding risks. Hotter and drier summers are increasing the risk of droughts, heatwaves and wildfires.

“Following our successful community workshop where local residents shared their insights about climate risks and solutions, we’ve developed a draft plan and now we need your feedback. This is your chance to review the proposals, suggest additional actions, and help ensure the plan truly reflects what Frome needs.

“We invite all residents to browse the short and long versions of the plan below and take our short survey on priorities and perspectives for the Frome Climate Adaptation Plan. Your input will help tailor the strategy to local needs and concerns. There will be another chance to contribute in person on Saturday 19th July – find us at the Frome Carnival fun day in Victoria Park between 12 pm and 4pm.
