Book your 2026 street party by 23 March to avoid £200 fee

A street party on Beechwood Avenue

Once again, Frome Town Council is urging anyone who is planning a street party in 2026, and requires a road closure, to set the date by Monday 23 March to avoid a £200 charge. Somerset Council allow Frome Town Council to submit a composite application each year and avoid the charge per street party, provided all applications are received by the closing date and meet certain conditions.

Thanks to the efforts of Frome Neighbourhood Network (FNN), Frome has seen an upturn in the number of street parties and neighbourhood-based events taking place. The group can offer information and support to help people connect with neighbours and forge strong communities. Jackie Adkins of FNN said:

“Organising a street party is a great way to get to know more of your neighbours and celebrate the uniqueness of your street. Frome Town Council have lots of useful items you can borrow for free, such as tables, chairs, gazebos plus games such as giant Jenga, Connect 4 and of course, the tug of war rope! There are links on the Frome Neighbourhood Network website with more ideas such as quizzes and games. So why not make this the year for your street party?”

If your planned street party requires a road closure, complete the application form at the foot of this article by Monday 23 March 2026. You may need to provide a risk assessment and public liability insurance nearer the time. To qualify, street parties must be for private residents only (not for the wider community, with no entrance fee). The party must take place on or after the first May bank holiday on 4 May 2026.

Information and tips about running a street party can be found on the FTC website at https://bit.ly/frome-street-parties. More information about Frome Neighbourhood Network is at https://www.fnn.org.uk
