A Conversation with Rob Hopkins at the Cheese and Grain

Rob Hopkins.

Environmental activist and author, Rob Hopkins, is coming to Frome on 23 October at the Cheese and Grain from 7pm to 9pm for ‘A Conversation with Rob Hopkins’, marking the release of his new book ‘How to Fall In Love With The Future: A Time Traveller’s Guide to Changing the World’. Once again, Rob invites the reader to explore the possibilities of the future through an optimistic lens.

Rob Hopkins says ‘In these times of deep division and deeper despair there is often a feeling that the future is going to be awful. However, there is plenty of evidence that things can change, and cultures can change, rapidly, dramatically, and unexpectedly—for the better’.

Event organiser, Frome Town Council’s Climate Action Lead Matt Mellen says: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Rob back to talk about his new book and share his knowledge and optimism to help us all ‘fall in love with the future’ and work together to solve the challenges we face as a community, local and global. Rob’s book takes a deep dive into the people and movements throughout history who have used visions of the future to inspire positive change on a large and dramatic scale, aiming to help anyone overwhelmed with dread and anxiety for the future. The book asks readers to consider: what would the world look like if we all got to work imagining—and then building—a world we were deeply in love with?’

Rob Hopkins is an environmental activist and author of six books including From What Is to What If and the long-awaited follow-up  How To Fall In Love With The Future. He also founded the Transition Movement aimed to help towns to move away from fossil fuels and create a community-driven solutions for sustainability.

‘How to Fall in Love with the Future: A Time Traveller’s Guide to Changing the World’ was published by Chelsea Green Publishing on 16th September. Find out more about Rob Hopkins at robhopkins.net.
