Frome Train station

There are a host of different ways to travel to, from and around Frome, including our Ebikes and the Co-wheels car share scheme.  On this page you can find information on local bus and train services, coaches, car parks and electric car charging points. Buses

Somerset County Council is the local authority which operate buses. You can visit their website for more information or contact them here. There are other bus/transport service providers which are privately owned.

You can search for and view bus timetables on the Traveline website. We can print off a timetable for you at the Town Hall or at the Discover Frome Information Point at the Black Swan for a small charge.

Please be advised: Bus operators can change their timetables on any day during the year providing they give the Traffic Commissioners 56 days’ notice.

We’d advise checking the individual bus operators’ websites before you travel.

Please note that the X67 service from Frome to Bath has been discontinued.

Bus passes

To apply for a concessionary bus pass you need to download and complete Somerset County Council’s application form.

You will need to complete this form and send it to them with a recently taken photograph (colour passport style), along with proof of your age, home address and any disability.

Your bus pass application will be assessed and verified by Somerset County Council, and then the pass will be sent directly to your home address. They will also advise if you have not been successful in obtaining a bus pass.

Coach services

National Express Coaches to London & beyond

National Express run a daily Frome to London (via Heathrow) service leaving the Market Place at 8.05am; returning from London Victoria at 6pm. Fares vary.

Berrys Coaches – Superfast coaches to London

Contact 01823 331356 or visit Berrys Coaches’ website. Tickets are also available from our Information Centre in Frome Town Hall.

Trains

The railway station in Frome is located just off Portway with direct services to London Paddington, Weymouth, Bath, Bristol and beyond.

Accessibility

Frome’s a hilly place, so help is at hand if you need some assistance getting about.

Wheelchair hire

Oakville Care Centre hire out both self and attendant propelled wheelchairs. Contact them on 01373 455415 or 01749 670765 for more information and to reserve.

Wheelchair accessible vehicle hire

WavGB offer vehicles for both long and short term hire in a range of sizes (number of seats) and types of wheelchair vehicles (rear or up-front passenger). Please note that short term (less than 7 days) hire vehicles must be collected/returned from their office just outside Bath. Visit the WavGB website for more information.

Electric Charging Points

There are currently EV charging points available at Frome Town Hall and Station Approach:

  • 2x 32amp 7kW Type 2 Mennekes at the Town Hall, BA11 1EB (rear car park)
  • 2x 50kwh and 2x 7kWh at Station Approach, BA11 1RE

There is also a point at the Shell garage at Commerce Park, BA11 2RY.

Mendip District Council will be installing nine new charging points which aim to be operational by autumn. These will be located as follows:

  • Three charging points at Badcox Car Park
  • Three charging points at Cattle Market Car Park
  • Three charging points at North Parade Car Park
