Vacancy for a Frome town councillor as Mel Usher steps down

Cllr Mel Usher, who has served on Frome Town Council as councillor for Market Ward since 2011, is stepping down. This creates a vacancy for a new councillor, ahead of the elections for all town council wards in 2027.

Town Clerk Paul Wynne said:

“Many thanks to Mel Usher for years of hard work and service to the town. We wish him well and we’re sure his grandchildren will be pleased he’ll have more time to spend with them from now on.”

Frome Town Council – Market Ward

Vacancy for a councillor

Due to the resignation of Mel Usher there is a vacancy for a Town Councillor for the Market Ward of Frame Town Council.
If, within 14 days* after the date of this notice, a request for an election to fill the said vacancy is made in writing to the Chief Executive, Electoral Services, Somerset Council, County Hall, The Crescent, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 4DY by TEN electors for the Ward, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by the Town Council by co-option.


The last date for electors for Market Ward to submit their request for an election is therefore 15 August.
