Temporary road closures for May 2021

The following road closures are due to take place in and around Frome during May 2021.

Catherine Street

Somerset County Council have issued an emergency temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Catherine Street for a distance of approximately 40 metres as shown on the map.

This order is to enable Wessex Water to construct a manhole and carry out sewer repairs, their works reference is 6389734.

The works commenced on the 5th May 2021 and are expected to last until 12th May 2021 between the hours of 00.00 – 23.59 for a total of 8 days.

Cherry Grove and footpaths

Somerset County Council have made an order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Cherry Grove for a distance of 34 metres and all pedestrian traffic from proceeding along Footpaths FR20/50 and FR20/54 as hown on the map:

This order is to enable E. G. Carter & Co Ltd to carry out re-development of a social housing site.

The works commenced on the 11th May 2021 and are expected to last until 19th October 2022 between the hours of 00.00 – 23.59.

Alexandra Road

Somerset County Council issued an emergency temporary road closure notice on 20th May, prohibiting all traffic from travelling along Alexandra Road for a distance of approximately 35 metres as shown on the map:

This order is to enable Bristol Water to repair a leaking poly services pipe on or near the road.

The works commenced on the 20th May 2021 and are expected to last until 24th May 2021 between the hours of 00.00 – 23.59.

A362 from Friggle Street to Wiltshire border

Wiltshire Council and Somerset County Council have issued a temporary road closure notice prohibiting all traffic from travelling along the A362 (part), Corsley and Selwood, from Friggle Street to the border with Wiltshire Council; from outside the Royal Oak public house to its junction with Somerset County Council border.

This order will enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing, road marking and adjustment of ironworks.

The works are expected to start on the 25th May 2021 and continue until 2nd June 2021 between the hours of 19.00 – 06.00 for a total of nine days.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works
