Network Rail modernising Bath Spa station

Network Rail is modernising Bath Spa station in preparation for new, longer trains which will enter service later this year. The work will include making the platforms wider and will also reduce the stepping distance to and from trains.  This major piece of work will take place Saturday 8th April through to Sunday 23rd April when Network Rail will be working to widen the platforms.

The work will also mean that the car park at Bath Spa will be closed from Saturday 1st April, reopening on Monday 1st May. There will be alternative parking in the Southgate car park, which is 3/4 minutes from the station.

Full details about the changes to weekend and weekday services are on a dedicated page on GWR’s website https://www.gwr.com/bath2017  The work will affect services to Bristol, London, Cardiff, Portsmouth and Weymouth, and there will be changes for TransWilts services at the weekend.

Work to prepare platforms at other stations between London, Bristol and Cardiff will be undertaken later in the year. This will not require track access and we will not need to make further timetable changes for platform alterations.
