Mayor’s column 2 January 2020

With the arrival of a New Year it’s always a good time to reflect on what has gone before but it also gives us a chance to renew and refresh, and to look forward with optimism and hope for the year ahead.

In my role of Mayor, I have had the great pleasure of visiting and supporting many of Frome’s community groups and voluntary organisations, many of which have been supported by Frome Town Council, which have meant that groups have been able to introduce new or improved facilities, activities or projects which benefit the town.

Moving into 2020, I will continue to visit as many people and places as possible and to help raise the profile of local charities and voluntary organisations, all who work continually to help others and make lives a little brighter and better within Frome.

We have a whole host of exciting events and celebrations to look forward to in 2020, one of the first being the delayed Fireworks display. As you may recall, this was re-arranged due to bad weather and, as this was voted for as part of the People’s Budget – Events last year, this will now take place on Saturday January 25th at the Old Showfield.  If we needed another reason to celebrate it is Chinese New Year and the date also coincides with Burn’s Night – all great reasons for a community event and to prolong the New Year celebrations!

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy and healthy 2020.
