Screen Somerset’s Mark Ford will be in Frome Town Hall between 3pm and 7pm on Wednesday 16th July, ready to chat to anyone with ideas, spaces or services that could be useful for production companies filming in the local area. Mark said:

Cllr Anita Collier said “Frome is a beautiful town, full of interesting buildings, spaces and people. It’s already a draw for production companies, with shows like Poldark and Sanditon filming in Frome in recent years, and most recently we lent our car park to the team filming a major production in the area! Bumping into Poldark aka Aidan Turner on Gentle Street is exciting in and of itself, but making our town a desirable filming location has so many benefits for the local economy and could even help you raise a bit of extra cash yourself, if you can accommodate cast and crew while they’re working here. Screen Somerset is part of Somerset Council and funded by central government via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). It aims to make Somerset as ‘film friendly’ as possible, providing a single point of contact and local knowledge to help filmmakers find their perfect location, helping shoots run smoothly and liaising with the county council’s highways, parking and property services. In 2024/25, an estimated £4million was spent by production companies in Somerset, an increase of almost £3million on the previous year.
