Frome Town Council is looking for a new Market Coordinator to help grow and develop Frome’s popular weekly markets, held every Wednesday and Saturday in Market Yard and the town centre.
A longstanding feature of life in Frome, the weekly markets bring together local producers, traders and independent businesses, to support the town’s economy. The council is now seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual to lead the day-to-day operation of the markets and help drive their future success.
The Market Coordinator will oversee market operations, trader support, health and safety, improve customer experience and develop the marketing of them. The role will also play a key part in attracting new traders, increasing footfall and ensuring the markets continue to evolve and thrive.
Cllr Nick Dove, lead councillor for the town centre, said:
“Frome’s markets play a vital role in supporting independent businesses, bringing people into the town centre and creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. We want to build on that success and are looking for someone with energy, creativity and strong organisational skills to help take the markets forward.”
Frome Town Council is also encouraging new traders to get involved in the weekly markets. Applications are welcomed from local food producers, growers, makers, artists, craftspeople and independent businesses looking to reach new customers in one of Somerset’s most distinctive market towns.
The Market Coordinator role offers a salary of £36,363 per annum (pro rata for 30 hours), 25 days annual leave plus public holidays (pro rata). Applications close at midnight on Sunday 28 June 2026, with interviews taking place on Monday 6 July 2026.
Informal enquiries are welcome. Please contact Rachel Griffin, Marketing and Communications Manager, on 01373 475574 or rgriffin@frometowncouncil.gov.uk.
