Frome Town Hall gets a step nearer to reality

At the Full Council meeting Wednesday 18 March the Council agreed to advertise for a lead designer to refurbish the old Social Services Building on Christchurch Street West and establish Frome Town Hall. The Town Council is buying the building from the County Council, and following widespread engagement with local people has produced a design brief which shows what is needed from the building. Cllr Peter Macfadyen, Mayor of Frome, said, “Once we’ve got a designer on board, we will begin to see the real potential of this building to become the centre of the community. There will be places to meet, the old Council Chamber will become, again, the place where people can get married, have parties and hold conferences and larger meetings.

“Frome Town Hall will become home to as many local organisations as possible, we hope the Citizens Advice Bureau and Frome FM, for example, will become partners.

“It’s an exciting time to be in Frome and I for one can’t wait for Frome Town Hall to be open for all.”
