‘Dig In’ at living soil event on 17th May

Loop: Frome is visited by fellow soil enthusiasts from South Hams, Devon, February 2025

Loop: Frome are hosting  ‘Dig In! A celebration of Living Soil’, a free family-friendly and planet-friendly picnic on Saturday 17th MayMeet between 10am and 12pm in the wooden play area opposite the Loop compost station in Victoria Park for refreshments, games, quizzes and conversation with soil experts about the benefit of ‘living compost’ like Loop’s, generated from local food waste.

Loop: Frome’s Peter Macfadyen said “It’s easy to get excited about an elephant, but the soils around us contain millions and millions of creatures way more amazing, all living in a jungle of plant and fungal life…I’m really looking forward to sharing some of this with as many people as possible at the event! Bring children, bring a picnic and find out more about how Loop: Frome’s amazing compost can help your gardens and allotments to thrive.’

Loop Frome launched in 2021 following an Edventure start-up course, led by Ben Still, who is also a town councillor, in collaboration with Peter Macfadyen, founder of Frome Compost CIC. Their electric trike collects food waste from local businesses, adds sawdust and uses hot composters to turn it into biodiverse, nutrient-rich soil, which is then sold to the community via regular pop-up sales and local deliveries, plus a subscription service.
