Frome Town Council CCTV and Privacy Statement

Front entrance of Frome Town Hall

Frome Town Hall has a CCTV system in operation.

The footage and information recorded by our CCTV system is stored here at the Town Hall by Frome Town Council. As the data controller, Frome Town Council is responsible for this information.

We record, store and process this information for the following purposes:

  • The security and safety of anyone visiting or using the building, including members of the public and our staff
  • The security of the building itself

There are two cameras inside the building and six cameras covering the outside of the building, including the car park.

The data recorded and stored on our system will be only accessible to members of Frome Town Council’s staff and, in the event it is deemed necessary, to Avon & Somerset Police.

Examples of when we would share this data with the Police include: the need for the identification, apprehension and prosecution of offenders; and reducing the incidence of crime and anti-social behaviour (including theft and vandalism)

Important

Recognisable images captured by Frome Town Council’s CCTV system are considered ‘personal data’ and therefore are subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.

CCTV monitoring of public areas will not be based on characteristics such as race, gender, sexual orientation or disability.

You have the right to access the information on you that we hold, and can do so by applying to Frome Town Council.
