Frome’s Community Fridge project will feature on Channel 4’s Friday Night Feast on 3 February, at 8pm.
Celebrity chef and co-presenter of the television show, Jimmy Doherty, visited the Community Fridge in Frome town centre in August last year, with a production team. He chatted with those who set up the project and those who came to donate their surplus food. The episode featuring their visit to Frome, will air next month.
Friday Food Feast’s presenters Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty have been campaigning to get fridges, like Frome’s, into other communities.
Auckland, New Zealand have now setup a community Fridge – after liaising with Frome Town Council sharing their community fridge experiences. Find out more about his here: https://lovefoodhatewaste.co.nz/the-community-fridge-reducing-food-waste-and-feeding-the-hungry/
The Community Fridge project – which shares surplus food in a bid to cut food waste while providing a ‘life-line’ for people who are struggling – has already enabled over 2,000 items of ‘surplus’ food to be shared by businesses and the local community.
