Declaration of Interests

Born in Stockport, my varied career has taken me around the country, working initially in Manchester’s public libraries, then a few years in retail including running my own local newsagents shop, moving on to aircraft maintenance administration at Stansted Airport, before spending the last 20 years of my working life travelling the world on a business process change project.

My wife Anne has been by my side throughout and our daughter now lives in Germany with her husband and our two grandsons.

We moved to Frome in 2018 and I retired the following year. I found Frome’s rich assortment of voluntary groups a great way to meet people from around the town, and I am now working to support several including the Frome Festival where I organise Hidden Gardens, SOS Frome which looks after Whatcombe Fields, the Frome Neighbourhood Network, and Cultivating Community CIC which operates the CafĂ© in Victoria Park. But perhaps my most rewarding role is as Chair of Governors at Critchill School.

I started attending Town Council meetings as an interested member of the public and was pleasantly surprised how welcoming they are – and that Independents for Frome manages to be completely focused on what’s best for our town, encompassing a broad spectrum of views and avoiding ‘party politics’

I was elected as a Councillor for College Ward in 2022, and was honoured to serve as Mayor in 2024/25. What a great way to find out even more about the amazing people and organisations that make Frome different!
