Wedding at Frome Town Hall marks family milestone

On Saturday 15 November, Frome Town Hall hosted a special wedding ceremony celebrating both a new marriage and a long-standing family connection with the historic building.

During a recent visit to the Town Hall in preparation for their ceremony, couple Tom and Corina shared that the groom’s grandparents, Terry and Sandra Wheeler, were married at Frome Town Hall on 30 October 1965.

In 2017, Terry and Sandra returned to Frome Town Hall to take part in its grand reopening following restoration works. While Sandra sadly passed away a few years ago, Terry was delighted to attend his grandson’s wedding nearly 60 years to the day after his own, making the occasion particularly meaningful for the family.

Frome Town Hall is a popular choice for weddings and civil ceremonies, offering a historic and elegant setting for celebrating special occasions.

Nykki Mehta, Events Administrator who oversees weddings at the Town Hall, said: “It is always a joy to see Frome Town Hall play such a meaningful role in the lives of local families. Stories like this show how our civic buildings are not just historic landmarks, but welcoming places that bring together individual stories and the wider community’s history.

“We really enjoy supporting couples as they celebrate important life events, and it is lovely to see the Town Hall continuing its long tradition as a place of warmth, celebration and shared moments. Working closely with Somerset Registration Services, we are able to offer ceremonies that can be personalised, helping couples create a day that truly reflects them.”

Wedding ceremony dates for 2026 and 2027 are now available. Further details about holding a ceremony at Frome Town Hall, including information on the venue and how to book, can be found on the Weddings section of the website.
