Wedding party on the steps of Frome Town Hall

Weddings and civil ceremonies

Working with Somerset Registration Services as a registry office the historic Frome Town Hall can now be booked for marriages, civil partnerships and baby ceremonies.

Your special event can be designed to suit individual requirements making sure the day will be unique as those using the space. These ceremonies are non-religious in nature and couples can personalise the occasion by choosing music and creating their own bespoke vows.

The venue

Frome Town Hall is an elegant heritage building made from local stone and dating from 1892. It was renovated and retains some of its old features which have been lovingly restored, such as the original mosaic flooring. This means the venue is very much a blank canvas for ceremonies but with heart and soul.

Situated in a conservation area it is an ideal location for photos, either on the stone front entrance steps or head to cobbled Gentle Street which dates back to Frome’s origins in the 7th century and is a filming location for BBC’s Poldark. There is also the quirky and iconic Catherine Hill which makes a distinctive back drop, or if you’re looking for a peaceful green space Victoria Park is close by.

Your ceremony

There are two options to choose from depending on your ceremony requirements.

  • For smaller, more intimate weddings, there is the Emma Sheppard Room which can hold up to 20 guests.
  • There is also the elegant Council Chamber which can hold up to 100 people with 80 seated, so more family and friends can enjoy your big day should you need it.

Extras

Some of the little touches that make our venue extra special are the chance to take photographs in the beautiful venue, seasonal foliage displays and a dedicated and welcoming team member to support you on the day. We also welcome confetti celebrations with natural petals – rose or lavender always make great biodegradable options.

Wedding guests can enjoy refreshments before the ceremony thanks to a licensed bar and should you book the final ceremony of the day, you will also be able to hire the Council Chamber for your reception.

If you would like to discuss any personal arrangements or to view the Council Chamber, please contact us.

Baby naming ceremonies

The Town Hall can also be used to celebrate and welcome your child into their family with a baby naming ceremony. It’s a non-religious alternative to a christening ceremony, and a great opportunity for friends and family to come together and celebrate the new addition to a family – new babies, extended families with step-children, adopted families, fostered children. The ceremony can be tailored to your needs and can include music and readings.
