Volunteer this summer

Summer is in full swing and if you’ve been thinking about ways you could use your spare time and energy over the summer months then read on to find out about some of the volunteer roles available around Frome.

Discover Frome Ambassadors
Are you looking for a fun new role where you can chat about our fantastic town and support one of the town’s historic buildings? Volunteers are needed to help support Frome’s popular information point. The friendly volunteer team at Discover Frome provides information about exciting events and activities taking place in the town as well as details about walking, cycling and exploring the area for residents and visitors alike.  Anyone with time to spare, looking for a new opportunity or to gain skills and experience can volunteer their time on the days that suit them.  To find out more about the position simply email the team or call 01373 465757.

Befriending in Frome
Active & In Touch Frome are looking for kind and caring volunteers to help tackle loneliness and isolation in our local community. Could you spare some time to bring benefit to another person’s life? Just a few hours every week can make a world of difference.

They are also looking for volunteer Community Drivers to provide a lifeline for people in Frome and surrounding villages who could not otherwise access vital services, such as medical appointments at the Royal Hospital in Bath, other social groups or visiting family and friends. They are looking for more drivers as demand for this service has increased.
If you can offer your time in either of the roles above, please reach out to the team via email, or call 07539 795261.

Community Fridge volunteers
Our ground breaking Community Fridge has become a necessity here in Frome. A dedicated team of volunteers helps to reduce food waste by collecting food from local shops and food outlets for the Community Fridge which is then available for anyone to take and make use of. The team are looking for more volunteers to help support its mission to keep food waste to a minimum. For more details or to volunteer your time, please email the Community Fridge team.

Wild Memories volunteers
The nature conservation charity Froglife is looking for volunteers to help with the Wild Memories nature group. They provide opportunities for people living with dementia to get active outdoors with gardening, wildlife conservation and the creative arts. These engagements have proven health benefits and specific positive impacts on the symptoms of dementia. They need some volunteer activity assistants to help run the sessions. They also welcome one off volunteers with specific skills who would like to deliver one-off activity sessions.

They run weekly sessions on Mondays 2pm-4pm at the Mells Walled Garden. The sessions on Tuesdays from 11am-1pm and Wednesdays from 2pm-4pm are based in Frome. For more details or to volunteer your time, contact Zak via email or call on 07949 572849.

Supporting refugees
With many families now settled in Frome, do you have any time to help support them? The Frome Welcomes Refugees group has been set up by local people to provide support to refugees, and those in Frome who are hosting them, by harnessing the town’s collective knowledge and skills. If you have skills in language, the benefit system or in counselling, or simply want to donate or offer some of your time/resources, please get in touch on the Frome Welcomes Refugees website and offer your support.
