Cycle Together was a free ebike loan scheme available to all adults living in and around Frome who were thinking of starting or returning to cycling for fitness, leisure or as a cheaper and more reliable way to get to work. Participants borrowed an ebike for free for four weeks. The free loan included a lock, lights, helmet, panniers and high vis clothing. The aim was to help participants feel more confident, cycle more often and be more active.
“I have absolutely loved having the ebike. I feel so much stronger and I look forward every day to going out on a new mini-adventure… Having the ebike has had a huge impact on me mentally and physically! We have been to Longleat so many times that we ended up getting annual passes… It has actually kinda replaced a summer holiday for us we’ve had loads of fun. I had to give the e-bike back on Saturday and was really sad! On Sunday morning, I bought a secondhand ebike”
Frome Community Bike Project continues on the great work that Cycle Together helped to propel, inspiring connection, fitness and fresh air. Continuing to offer hire bikes, group bike rides, classes, repairs and servicing – now running as a paid service to keep it all going strong.
The project was part of Green and Healthy Frome which was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
