Mendip partnership helps homeowners invest in energy efficiency

Mendip District Council, working in partnership with social enterprise Lendology CIC, provide council-funded loans to homeowners for improving the energy efficiency of properties.

The current energy crisis, along with the rising cost of living, is impacting everyone so making sure homes are as energy efficient as possible is key to retaining heat and reducing household costs.

Lendology have loans available to use on repairs, improvements, energy efficiency and renewable energy measures.

There are loan products for those who may find it challenging to borrow elsewhere, for example, those self-employed, in receipt of benefits or retired people – and everyone pays the same fixed interest rate.

Cllr Richard Pinnock, Portfolio Holder for Housing Services at Mendip, said: “Our partnership with Lendology is a unique opportunity for homeowners to access finance to fulfil their energy efficiency and retrofitting aspirations.

“It can give them peace of mind knowing they can make home improvements to ensure warmer living conditions and lower energy bills in the long run.”

Emma Lower, CEO at Lendology, said: “We have worked in partnership with Mendip District Council for over 15 years and are a trusted partner and lender across the district.

“We are seeing more and more homeowners contacting us to spread the cost of energy efficiency measures such as new windows, and renewable energy such as solar panels and air source heat pumps.

“With the oldest housing stock in Europe, the cost of maintaining homes is also increasing and we continue to support homeowners with larger jobs such as replacing roofs and thatches.”

If you would like to take out a loan or want to find out more, visit the Lendology website or call Lendology on 01823 461099.
