Community help to design School Streets project

The School Streets project was relaunched in September and Sustrans along with Frome Town Council have been keen to hear the suggestions, thoughts and comments from the community in order to build this project and make the local streets better and safer for all who use them by limiting vehicle access and prioritising walking, scooting and cycling outside schools.

Sustrans have hosted a variety of sessions to engage with the local community, from online to in person sessions in Mary Bailey Playing Fields, outside the schools within the School Streets area and hearing the views from shoppers in the Westway precinct.

Frome Town Council’s Project Officer Emma Parker said: “All the information has been invaluable, so thank you to all that have taken the time to comment at the sessions or via the School Streets survey. All comments will feed into the next stage of the project. For anyone unable to make the previous sessions, there’s still the opportunity to meet the design team and feed into the plan as Sustrans will be hosting their next session online on Wednesday 3rd November from 7:30pm – 8:45pm – we welcome all thoughts before we move onto the implementation of the trial next year.”

Sign up to the online session here and head over to the School Streets page for all the details. There’s also the opportunity to sign up to the School Streets newsletter so you can get all the information direct to your inbox.
