Talented young musicians take over town centre for Frome Busks 2026

Saturday 13 June saw the return of Frome Busks, an annual pop-up music event hosted by Frome College and Selwood Academy, supported by Frome Town Council. Musicians worked their way around seven stages at Frome Library, Black Swan Arts, Stony Street, Cheap Street, Westway, Cheese and Grain and the Boyle Cross.

Acts included bands The Shrink, Paris Blue and Fluffy and the Jars, formed at Frome College and soloists including Sam, Christian, Syd, Dora, Lula, Miri, Joe, Annie and Alexa, performing in rotation across the stages between 11am and 2pm.

Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said “Frome Busks is one of our favourite events at FTC – these talented young people entertain us with some great music but it’s more than that; they bring a spirit of creativity, optimism and drive to this event that the world needs and that Frome’s youngsters clearly have in abundance. Hope everyone who came down on the day enjoyed themselves and made a donation to support the brilliant work that Head of Music Josh and the whole music department at Frome College do, year on year.”

Josh Hampson said: “The sun shone on this wonderful event with students performing original and cover music across the town. To our brilliant students – a huge well done. We hope you enjoyed your day. We are in awe of your talent and courage – busking is no easy gig and you aced it. Give yourself a pat on the back.”

The Frome Busks fundraising page remains open – all proceeds support the Frome College Music department and provide opportunities for young musicians. Make a donation at https://tinyurl.com/frome-busks-2026
