Final call for the Skate Jam and fundraiser

On Saturday 9 May from midday, Frome Skatepark Project (FSP) are hosting a skate jam and fundraiser in the Mary Baily field, supported by Rotary Club of Frome and Frome Town Council.

As usual, the event will feature a packed itinerary of skating and scooting competitions with prizes to be won. Entering the competitions is free, but this year the skate jam offers opportunities to support the fundraiser for Frome’s new skatepark while you watch, by buying a raffle ticket from the team, picking up some FSP merchandise or enjoying a burger, veggie burger or hotdog from the BBQ, thanks to the support of Chris Lilley of Lilley’s Cider. Soft drinks will also be on sale and all profits will support Frome Skatepark Project.

Before the jam, from 10am to 12pm, skateboard instructor Dave Lea is running half-hour classes for £6 per person, with all proceeds to the skatepark. Booking is essential via the link below.

FSP’s Sue Bucklow said “The skate jam is always a fantastic day and a great reminder of the power of skating to generate friendship, collaboration and physical confidence in young people. Even if you aren’t a skater yourself, come down to watch, buy your lunch from the BBQ, take part in the raffle and watch the competitions – support us to create a brilliant new skatepark for Frome.”

The Skate Jam runs from 12pm to 4pm in the Mary Baily Field on Saturday 9 May. Make a donation at https://givealittle.co/c/fromeskatepark. Book lessons from 10am to 12pm with Dave Lea at https://tinyurl.com/skate-lessons-9-may.
