Residents planning a street party in 2026 have an additional chance to avoid a £200 fee if they require a road closure, provided they apply to the town council and provide essential information by Monday 18 May.
Somerset Council allow Frome Town Council to submit a composite application when booking in town events, avoiding the charge per street party. The 18 May deadline is the final opportunity in 2026 to share FTC’s application and book a road closure for a street party free of charge.
Cllr Philip Campagna said
“We’ve had street parties where I live; they’re such a great way to get to know your neighbours better, build a strong local community, share good food – and hopefully enjoy some good weather. The town council can lend you things like gazebos, tables, chairs, bunting and games – all you need add is the people and the atmosphere!”
If your planned street party requires a road closure, complete the application form at the foot of this article by Monday 18 May 2026. You may need to provide a risk assessment and public liability insurance nearer the time. To qualify, street parties must be for private residents only (not for the wider community, with no entrance fee).
