The Frome branch of Walkers are Welcome are celebrating another successful Walking Festival. This year’s event took place between 8th and 10th of August and featured 12 walks over three days, attended by more than 200 people.
Les Stather said “We were lucky this year to be blessed with very good walking weather; no rain and no heatwave. Virtually everybody who joined a walk learned something about the town that they did not already know or discovered new areas that they had not walked before. Frome is a Walkers are Welcome town and the committee would like thank Frome Town Council, Frome Selwood Rotary and all the walk leaders for all their help in organising the festival. Frome is surrounded by beautiful walking country, which is showcased by The Frome Outer Wheel, a 16.5-mile ring around the town. Many of the Frome’s green spaces and some of its industrial heritage can be enjoyed from the 5-mile inner ring. Maps of The Frome Wheel can be purchased from most bookshops in the town or at the town council offices.”
Mayor of Frome Anita Collier said “Thank you to the Walking Festival team for another wonderful event, offering the chance to explore Frome’s history and heritage, learn about plants and trees, or just take in some beautiful scenery in and around the town. Here’s to many more!”
