The Walking Festival goes online!

Frome’s third annual Walking Festival was scheduled to take place on the weekend of 14th & 15th November. All the group walks had been carefully planned to keep everyone safe, unfortunately, due to the national lockdown, those walks are no longer able to take place.

The Walkers are Welcome team who are behind the event, don’t want folks to miss out so have decided to take the Walking Festival online! Most walks have been digitised and Frome Town Council’s Discover Frome website is home to a host of downloadable walks and resources.

Whatever your chosen walk, whether it was the a walk to explore our parks and open spaces, or the pubs of Frome or even going further afield to Orchardleigh, there are plenty of walks to discover, for all levels and interests and they’re available to download and get exploring.  The full list of walks can be found on the Town Walks page over on Discover Frome, and don’t forget to check out the main Walkers are Welcome page for more information and resources.

Cllr Rich Ackroyd said: “Rather than cancelling the walking festival, we’ve simply taken it online – Discover Frome has a whole host of walks available for you to download to view either on the move on your phone or you can print out before you leave the house.  At a time like this, while we are in lockdown, we are still able to go out and exercise, so grab your walking boots and a map and head outside – it will do your body and mind wonders!”

As a reminder, during lockdown you can go out and enjoy the outdoors either with your household and with those who are in your support bubble. If you walk on your own, you can walk, socially distanced, with one person from another household.

So, you don’t need to wait to explore in and around our beautiful town, you can download one of our walks direct from Discover Frome – happy walking!
