What is community engagement and what does it mean for you?
We talk a lot about community engagement – but knowing it’s the way to help a town get involved in its own future is very different from actually doing it.
At Frome Town Council, we actively seek engagement with as many residents as we can, because we want you to feel empowered to make the changes and improvements you think would help the town become a better place to live. We’ve recently added a new way for you to share your thoughts with us: our My Frome platform has information about forthcoming projects and plans, with opportunities to comment and participate in decision making. That doesn’t replace all the other ways you can get in touch; you’ll still see us ‘popping up’ around the town, and you can call, email or visit us at the town hall during office hours, or attend a council meeting in person or via Zoom.
In Frome, we’re lucky enough to have a vibrant community who are caring and generous. Many of you respond to our calls to have your say, tell us what you think, warts and all, but we’d love to see more of you.
I know we all lead busy lives, but it’s so important that your views are heard. We welcome your thoughts and ideas, as well as all your feedback. This is your town.
We’ve been elected to reflect your views and, whenever possible, those needs and wants will be taken into consideration, as long as you tell us what that is. We aim to do as much as we can with you, not just to you.
So please, help take ownership of this town. Your view CAN make a difference, and we’d really like to hear it.
There are so many ways you can get involved:
- Sharing your thoughts and exploring projects at myfrome.co.uk
- Writing to the Council with your ideas – we’re on Christchurch St West, BA11 1EB (opposite the Memorial Theatre)
- Popping into the town hall to speak to our friendly reception team
- Calling us on 01373465757
- Emailing engage@frometowncouncil.gov.uk
- Coming to speak to councillors at the Saturday market – 2nd Saturday of the month
- Attending council meetings
- Responding to calls for you to take part in engagement activities
Let’s do everything we can to work together. That way, we can achieve a town that’s even better, and lots of you can feel you’ve played a big part in making it happen.
