Mayor’s column 19 December 2019

I am sure that many of us are well into the Christmas social season by now, with work and family celebrations in full swing. Invitations for the Mayor to attend seasonal events started arriving in early December and I have accepted as many as possible as I enjoy meeting as many residents as I can this time of year.

When I was given the honour of becoming your Mayor in May, I said I would say yes to as many invitations as I could, if they were happening in Frome or involved Frome people. The invitations have poured in and by the time you read this I will have attended my hundredth event wearing the chain of office, and I‘ve enjoyed every minute so do keep them coming for the new year. By doing this I hope I can show that I, and by extension, your council, are interested in you and what you are doing in the town.

I will be out and about in the town up to and including Christmas Day, and I hope I can meet and talk to you about what is good in Frome, and what we can do to improve things where needed. My fellow councillors are all of the same mind; make sure you know who your ward councillors are so you can have similar conversations with them.

All it remains for me to say, in my last column of the year, is I hope you have a happy and safe Christmas and the best of starts to the new decade.
