Chair of the Grants Advisory Panel, Cllr Anne Hills, said: “We are delighted to be able to support such great organisations in Frome, and it’s great to hear the updates on how the grants are helping. The next round of Community Grants is now open, and I hope that any other organisations looking for funding will apply.”

One of the recipients was the Memorial Theatre who received a Community Grant of £3000, which allowed them to carry out essential work to replace the theatre mains power cable.  Richard Aspray said: “The work completed now provides the theatre with a reliable electricity supply. This will enable us to provide an entertainment and rehearsal venue for the Frome community. The works also supplies electricity to the Assembly Rooms which means that we can continue to support a wide range of local groups, clubs, and activities, ranging from blood donor sessions to the Frome Day Centre. Plus, we have an exciting programme of shows planned for the year to entertain the people of Frome.”

Another organisation is Focus Counselling who received £1000.  The fund helped them take their counselling service online during the pandemic, Joanne Byron said: “With Frome Town Council’s funding we have been able to continue to deliver this relatively new but vital service to help some of the most vulnerable residents with heavily subsidized counselling. This service has helped them to deal with mental health crises that have been further exacerbated during the pandemic.”

The next round of Community Grants is open now and will 17th September 2021. For more information and full details on how to apply please visit the Grants page on the Frome Town Council website: www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk/grants.
