First Sunday of the month
Somerset Farmers’ Markets is a not-for-profit organisation which runs markets across the county. In common with all farmers’ markets, the central aim of Somerset Farmers’ Markets is to offer high-quality, locally produced food direct from the producer.
Producers who join one or more markets become a member of Somerset Farmers’ Markets. The markets are steered by the producers through a Board of Directors elected by and from the membership. The markets are organised by our Market Coordinators and a Day Manager oversees each individual market.
The produce that can be sold at our markets is governed by a set of criteria which require that the produce must:
- if at all possible, originate in the local area
- be produced by a member of Somerset Farmers’ Markets
- be sold by someone involved in the production

Frome Farmers’ Market at the Market Yard
They’ve run a farmers’ market in Frome since 1998 – making it one of the first in the country. From June 2026, it’s taken place at the town’s Market Yard (otherwise known as the Cheese & Grain car park) and alongside the town council-run Weekly Market.
This market runs every second Saturday of the month, from February to December 9am-3pm (some traders stay until 1pm).
SFM @ The Frome Independent
More like a monthly festival, there is a buzz in the air with music, street theatre, hands on activities and tasty street food. The event is divided into different sections including a flea market, new designers, crafts and vintage. Somerset Farmers’ Markets organises the centrally located 24 pitch ‘farmers’ market’ section around the Market Cross – just look out for the green and white striped canopies. A complete farmers’ market experience but with a few hot food options for all day grazing.
