Laura Dibble is an OFSTED outstanding registered childminder living in Mells, Frome.
She uses a blended curriculum, taking (what she believes to be) the best parts of Reggio Emilia, Froebel, Steiner, the curiosity approach, and Forest school. We are a ‘Hygge in the Early Years’ accredited setting.
As a ‘Hygge in the Early Years’ setting she aims to provide a cosy, calm, home from home setting. She aims to, first and foremost, support children’s social and emotional development because a child cannot learn effectively if they are stressed.
She has open-ended toys and equipment and the children are given ample time to explore them. She doesn’t interrupt children at work (playing) and their routine is set up to reflect this. Learning happens organically as she plays with the children, scaffolding their play, offering additional elements, sharing in their wonder, and extending their vocabulary. She believes in the saying ‘Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn’ Benjamin Franklin.
The children are given time to gain mastery of a skill (practise, repeat and do again).
