Following a successful screening at the Cheese and Grain in May, there’s another opportunity to watch and discuss the People’s Emergency Briefing in Frome.
The People’s Emergency Briefing will take place at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday 10 October 2026, from 7pm to 9pm. Booking is available via the link below. The screening is hosted by the Eco Church Team at Holy Trinity Church and is supported by Frome Town Council.
In November last year, more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media gathered at Westminster Central Hall for a landmark national briefing, delivered by leading UK experts.
The event opened with broadcaster Chris Packham, who called for a clear public understanding of the risks facing the UK. Experts explored what climate and nature breakdown could mean for food security, health, national security, infrastructure and the economy, as well as the practical steps that could still help reduce these risks.
A documentary film, the People’s Emergency Briefing, has since been produced, bringing together footage from that event and sharing the evidence and expert insights with communities across the country.
The 50-minute film offers a calm, evidence-based look at how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain, what the science tells us about the risks, and what can be done in response.
Following the screening, there’ll be a friendly, facilitated discussion about what these issues mean for us locally in Frome, and the opportunities for positive action in our town.
The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and is supported by a wide range of organisations, including the National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, the National Education Union and many more.
