Frome Town Council hosted an afternoon of play for all ages at the Key Centre on 5 August, to mark National Playday 2026.
The event ran from 2pm to 5pm, followed by the official opening of the improved play area at Tower View park, with a free picnic provided for children. The day featured cyanotype printing with Caravan Arts, skate lessons for all ages from Soulful Skate Co and bike ramp-building with Super Roots. Guests took home willow dragonflies made with local artist Mary Cross, danced to live music by Frome Street Bandits and helped to create a brand new Key Centre board game. There was also a stay and play with Purple Elephant, a ‘board game bonanza’ and free refreshments all day, including a lot of cake.
Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said ” It was lovely to see everyone having such a great time and to open the play space extension, designed and built in consultation with the community. The Key Centre is a fantastic addition to the town council’s offer for the community and that was certainly in evidence in the great turnout and atmosphere. Many thanks to everyone involved.”
