A much-loved Sweet Chestnut tree in Victoria Park has been given a new lease of life thanks to the skill and creativity of local woodcarver Graham Derham.
Sadly, the tree was lost during the winter months, but rather than remove it entirely, Frome Town Council wanted to ensure that part of it could continue to be enjoyed by park visitors for years to come.
Working with the remaining trunk, Graham Derham of Graham Derham Woodworking has transformed the wood into a beautiful new sculpture, creating a lasting feature for the park and celebrating the tree’s place in Victoria Park’s landscape.
The sculpture can now be found next to the café in Victoria Park, where visitors are invited to stop by and take a closer look. As well as admiring the craftsmanship, families can also enjoy a fun interactive game carved into the design. Don’t forget to bring a ping pong ball and have a go.
