More than 40 original artworks created on skateboard decks will go on display at The Station Gallery this September as part of The Great Dexhibition, a unique exhibition and auction helping to raise funds for Frome’s new skatepark.
Organised by the volunteer-led Frome Skatepark Project, the exhibition runs from 18 to 27 September and features work from an impressive line-up of local and national artists, each transforming a blank skateboard deck into a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
The Great Dexhibition is the latest in a series of community fundraising efforts supporting plans for a new skatepark in Frome. Working alongside Frome Town Council, the project has already raised more than half of the £400,000 needed to make the new facility a reality.
A launch event will take place on Friday 18 September from 6pm to 9pm, when online bidding will officially open. Visitors can view the full collection before placing bids on their favourite pieces.
Speaking about the exhibition, organisers said: “The response to The Great Dexhibition has been incredible. We gave artists a blank skateboard deck and asked them to do whatever they wanted with it and what has come back is an amazing collection of completely unique pieces of art.”
The Great Dexhibition offers a chance to own an original artwork while helping bring a new community facility to Frome.
