Children, families and community groups are invited to take part in the first Frome-wide We Are Nature: Wildlife Parade on Sunday 12 July, a colourful and creative celebration of nature, imagination and our connection to the natural world.
The parade, organised by Frome Town Council in partnership with TiltFutures forms part of this year’s Frome Festival and will bring the town centre alive with wildlife-inspired masks, music, movement and creativity.
Children can make a wildlife mask at home or at school ahead of the event and learn a simple dance routine created by Mojo Moves. Children and their families will join hundreds of others in celebrating the creatures and species that share our world, while remembering our connection as human beings to nature.
Parade participants are also invited to meet outside St John’s Church at 2pm before setting off on a joyful procession through the town.
This event aims to inspire positive conversations about nature, conservation and the simple actions we can all take to care for our environment, while providing a fun, accessible and free activity for families during the Frome Festival.
Sara Butler, Lead Councillor for Climate Action at Frome Town Council, said:
“The Wildlife Parade is a wonderful opportunity for children and families to come together, get creative and celebrate the natural world. Through art, movement and play, we’re encouraging young people (and their grown-ups) to think about their connection to nature while creating a joyful spectacle for the town on the final day of Frome Festival”
Creator Caroline Till from TiltFutures said:
“We’re delighted to be working with Frome Town Council and We Are Nature on this imaginative community event. It is so important for our young people to be able to have the resources and the opportunity to enjoy positive creative experiences. Our parade combines that creativity with learning and celebration, enabling young people to explore their relationship with the natural world in a positive and memorable way.”
Everyone is welcome to take part. No booking is required. For more information, visit the Frome Festival programme listing at https://fromefestival.co.uk/event/the-wildlife-parade or via Frome Town Council.
