Frome Town Council (FTC) is inviting experienced childcare providers to apply to create and run a new nursery provision at the Key Centre.
We are seeking a provider to deliver high-quality, year-round childcare for children aged 0–4, helping meet growing local demand for nursery places in Frome. Applicants are also invited to consider the potential for wraparound and holiday provision for school-aged children.
The purpose-built nursery space offers indoor and outdoor areas, a fully fitted kitchen, an office and toilets. Providers would also have access to the Key Centre community garden and cabin by arrangement with the Key Centre team.
Frome Town Council is looking for a provider with a strong commitment to inclusive, child-centred early years education and excellent safeguarding standards. The successful applicant will be expected to create a nurturing environment where children can learn through play, exploration and creativity, while building strong partnerships with parents, schools and the wider community.
Cllr Lisa Merryweather said: “Good Early Years provision provides a crucial foundation for children for their future education and a nurturing safe space for them to learn and grow. Year-round nursery provision like this is also a great support for working families juggling family life with a career. This is an exciting opportunity to create a new nursery at the heart of the community, making use of the fantastic purpose-built facilities at the Key Centre. We want to hear from ambitious, inclusive and forward-thinking providers to create this facility for Frome.”
Prospective providers are welcome to visit the Key Centre to view the space; please email keycentre@frometowncouncil.gov.uk to arrange a time.
Interested organisations are invited to submit an expression of interest outlining their experience, vision and approach to delivering excellent childcare provision. Shortlisted applicants will then be asked to provide a detailed business plan and present their proposals to a selection panel made up of FTC staff, councillors and Somerset Council education representatives.
The deadline for submitting an expression of interest is 5pm on Tuesday 14 July. Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 10 August.
