Frome Children’s Festival Summer Project 2019

Frome Children’s Festival is a free event offering a huge range of activities and entertainment for families and children of all ages. Our focus this year is on the arts and on including activities which children and young people have specifically asked for, giving them exactly what they want. Activities will include street art workshops, theatre performances, face painting, clay modelling, aerial dance, animal encounters, young bands, a zip wire across the river, gaming workshops and a sensory tent. We’ll also run workshops during May half term making decorations for the festival, which can remain on site to be enjoyed afterwards. We’re already working with local schools, running after school sessions to support young people to volunteer at the Festival, giving them the skills they need for their area of interest.

The festival will be held on Sunday 23rd June at the Cheese and Grain through to Welshmill Park, from 12noon to 6pm. We’ll include lots of local clubs and groups running activities such as sports and will welcome Fair Frome’s community picnic. We’ll involve young volunteers and trainees, giving them the opportunity to learn new skills and support their community. We’ll organise and deliver the event in partnership with long established local charity Young People Frome.

The Children’s Festival has grown over the past 5 years into a much loved, free family event and offers the opportunity for local artists, activity providers and clubs to showcase what they do. Children from all backgrounds can enjoy new activities and quality entertainment in a supportive environment, helping them to make new friends and learn new skills. We’ll include family support workers at the festival to enable children with additional needs to fully enjoy the event.

Frome Children’s Festival – giving all children the opportunity to have fun, learn and develop.

Public questions and feedback

Q: Why has the date been moved? It now clashes with the Sunday of Glastonbury 👎 lots of families from Frome go to Glastonbury on the Sunday and will now not be able to attend 😢

A: We moved the date forward so that we could get the Cheese and Grain – it’s all booked up in July. Glastonbury is 26th to 30th June so there will not be a clash with the Children’s Festival – we made sure of that!

Q: Can I get involved with the event?

A: We’re very happy for people to take part – they just need to contact us on
