Supporting Disadvantaged Young Tennis Players

In an exciting new initiative Frome Selwood Tennis Club is driving forward plans to support children’s accessibility to tennis.

The Club recognises that tennis can be expensive for some parents and they are looking for a local company (or companies) to help run a concessionary membership scheme for juniors whose parents are on low income and state benefits. The Club wants to provide a 50% discount for up to 10 candidates. They are hoping to run the scheme for 5 years at a cost in total of approximately £7,000 over those years.

The Club is inviting a sponsor or sponsors to come forward and be associated with the scheme. A significant sponsor would be able to put their name to the scheme and display a banner at the club and receive various other publicity benefits alongside.

Club Chair, John Price said: “Tennis is a great sport, is fun for all levels of ability and its profile in the UK has been raised considerably over the last few years. At Frome Selwood Tennis Club we see tennis as an inclusive game not an exclusive one, but not every family can afford to send their child along to tennis coaching. If we can find some generous sponsors to help us with this scheme it will give several of those children who are excited to learn new tennis skills the chance to do so”.
