Performing Arts Panel Update 10.10.2017
It’s been a while, but we would like to let you know about the progress made since the last Performing Arts Panel Meeting.
The recommendations from that meeting and the updates are as follows:
- Develop Discover Frome Web Site to include a town wide online events/community calendar.
- Employ a Marketing Intern.
Claire Worrall began as Marketing & Tourism Intern at the start of the summer. She has already hit the ground running with significant contribution to both the events calendar, and other relevant tasks.
Rachel Griffin is our Marketing & Communication Manager – and so this combination will enable actions arising from the recommendations moving forward.
- To look at the possibility of installing two new notice boards to be managed by the council.
We are still looking into permissions regarding the Catherine Hill notice board. We have yet to decide the exact location of the second notice board at the railway station but we will be able to fill you in at the next meeting. There is an added bonus that the Black Swan Arts now houses an information point with notice board focusing on events. Please feel free to take down any relevant information that you might want to share.
- Reviewing rehearsal spaces throughout venues in the town and making them available online.
We are currently looking at the feasibility of this scheme and making contact with all venues. If you have a space suitable for this purpose then please contact us with the relevant information and it will start to inform our web page.
5 Review a local performing Arts Mentorship Scheme for young people.
This is not due to be reviewed properly until March but look out for volunteer requests soon.
6 Review Destination Frome – a Performing Arts Week.
We have reviewed the recommendation and have decided that we would be better off working more closely with the already existing Frome Festival.
7 Establish a more permanent performing Arts Panel meeting with 2 meetings a year.
We aim to revisit this in the new year with the intention of laying the groundwork for the mentorship scheme – the proposed date for the next Performing Arts Panel meeting is 30th January.
If you would like to bring anything to our attention for the agenda for January’s meeting then please get in touch on here.
