Frome Fireworks raise thousands for local charities

On behalf of Rotary in Frome the Frome Town Mayor, Richard Ackroyd, presented cheques to four organisations that helped with collections at the Frome Fireworks.

Local residents who enjoyed the Firework display donated £5,100 on the night to a variety of deserving causes in Frome. The first money has now been distributed to Fair Frome £500, The Pod £750, The 1st and 7th Frome Scouts £750 and The Frome Big Christmas get together £250. All of these organisations helped with the collection on the night.

The Mayor said, “It’s great to see an event like this receive such a huge amount of local support. All these organisations make a significant difference to the lives of people in our town.”

Andrew Lee, President of Frome Town Rotary said, “We were delighted that other organisations supported the Fireworks and thanks to the generosity of the people of Frome we are able to support their causes. We know that the Carnival Club also benefited from the sale of illuminated toys at the event and the Cricket club and football club were able to generate additional funds. We are hopeful that we can make this an annual event for the town.”

The Fireworks were funded by Frome Town Council through the People’s Budget and organised by the three Rotary Clubs in Frome. The Peoples Budget for 2019 is set to launch next week so if you have a brilliant idea for a must have event for Frome make sure you submit it by the deadline of 9th February.
